Who is “Kromey”?

Origin Story:

Howdy! I’m Alex Kromer, but you can call me Kromey.

Or you can call me Alex, whichever feels right to you. I am equally both of these names. Much like my two names, I also have two styles of photography - one that is soft and (dare I say) demure, the other more wild and edgy. Sometimes, my photoshoots can encompass both sides.

I took my first film photography class as a freshman in high school and knew my destiny would include a camera in my hand. After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, I wanted to pursue the lifestyle fashion brands of Southern California.

After almost 10 years of working on various jobs within the photo & fashion industry, my soul realized I was no longer on the right path. At the beginning of 2021 I left the fashion industry (as well as California) and had a bit of an identity crisis as a photographer. During that time I stayed with my parents in Lake Norman, NC and began to visit Asheville fairly often making friends with like-minded creatives. Pretty soon I realized Asheville would become my new home.

It was during that time, connecting to the Spirit of Appalachia as well as Catawba, I was able to find myself again.

My ultimate passion revealed:

Empowering Women

to be their most

~ Authentic Selves ~

I realized that all the time I had spent developing my “fashion aesthetic” was not in vain - that in fact my newfound passion was to allow ALL women to experience the feeling of being glorified, celebrated, & photographed in a way that looks like they may be the star featured on the cover, editorial spread, or two page advertisement ~ of their own life.

Every human being deserves to see their self that way.

But furthermore, although I am deeply passionate about Women’s Empowerment -

I by no means exclude anyone based on assigned gender, gender identity or sexual preference.

If you resonate with my work, I resonate with you.
